Issue
Cleaning is one of the most time-consuming and costly maintenance work processes on commercial vehicles. But it not only serves the optical maintenance of the lorry as a rolling business card of logistics companies but, primarily, functional maintenance. Issues such as tank interior cleaning or the removal of aggressive dirt from construction sites are important actions for the professional and safe transport of goods.
Challenge
Cleaning for the functional maintenance of commercial vehicles incurs a large amount of effort. Complex technical wash systems and special detergents developed for various applications present operators of such systems with a variety of tasks. The goal is optimal adjustment of the balance of chemical and mechanical cleaning components from a business point of view.
Analysis
The cleaning agent concentrates were premixed by the employees at the lorry wash operator in question and filled into appropriate containers. The manual approach made reliable documentation of the inventory and consumption difficult. Delivery of the cleaning agent in large containers from abroad meant that there was a lack of flexibility required for purchasing.

Caramba carried out a cost analysis and recommended installation of an automatic dosing system.
As part of the chemical and technical advice, the cleaning agent was also switched to a cleaning agent from Caramba. The system was adjusted precisely in various test runs and its proper functioning during continuous operation was demonstrated.

The automated dosing technology eliminated the time-consuming premixing of the application concentration and improved occupational safety. The dosage of the cleaning agents is always accurate and also allows precise control of the costs and consumption and minimises the risk of a concentration being too high or low. Less staff are required overall and these are now available for service.
